Acrobat 8 error “the Organizer database is damaged…”
If you are getting a damaged Organizer error message when using Acrobat then simply follow these steps to remedy the issue:
- Close Acrobat
- On Windows XP, go to C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0
- Delete the organizer70 folder
- Open Acrobat and go to Help > Repair Acrobat Installation
- After the repair is finished, you should have a new organizer folder and no more error messages.

This is a really useful one.
Cheers Adobe!
How do you do this on a Mac running Leopard.
Stu
I haven’t seen this happen on Mac’s before, but there is some info on the adobe forums worth looking at:

This is a GREAT tip…that error message was driving me crazy!
What would be the process for Acrobat 9 running on Vista (64)?
I get the error regularly.
The folder path on vista would be:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0\
And thank you for this fix, works perfectly
Hi. I did the above fix and it started happening again within 24 hours. I redid the fix but this seems to be a consistent problem. I reinstalled the entire program but it STILL happens fairly regularly
I am 32 bit Vista Home Premium Service pack 1
I am using Acrobat 8 Standard
On Mac I deleted “Acrobat User Data” directory inside /Users/yourname/Library/
That worked for me. I hope not too much other settings are lost with this action.
Hi, I’m using Windows XP, Adobe acrobat 8 Pro. Tried to search for C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0, but i can’t find it. After i click on “myusername”, i don’t see “Application Data…”.
Would appreciate if someone can shed some light on this missing link, thanks.
You need to enable hidden folders. From windows explorer: Click tools on the top toolbar and select folder options. Open the view tab and there will be an option in this list to show hidden files and folders.
