Acrobat’s Compare Documents Feature
If you want to evaluate the differences between a PDF file and a revised version of that file you can use Acrobat’s Compare Documents option. Here’s how:
- Open Acrobat and go to Advanced > Compare Documents
- Click the first ‘Choose’ button and select your original PDF file
- Click the second Choose button and find your updated PDF
- For Type of Comparison you have two options. Page by Page is the broadest search option while Textual Differences will only look at changes made to the document’s text. For this example, lets choose Textual Differences.
- For Choose a Report Type pick Side by Side Report, which will display all of the changes in a separate PDF.
- Click OK and view your results. First you’ll see a summary of the text changes and below the actual changes are marked in red.
