Changing a PDF File’s Initial View Settings
Did you know that you can change how a PDF looks when it’s first opened? With Acrobat, you can alter the default magnification and layout settings for individual files. To do so:
- Open a PDF file and go to File > Properties > Initial View
- Here you can use the dropdown menus to increase or decrease the magnification or change the page layout.
- Below we have changed our magnification to 200%
- Now if you click OK, save your PDF, close it and reopen it, you’ll see that the magnification has changed.
- Remember that we have only changed the initial view settings for this PDF file.
- To change the settings for Acrobat in general go to Edit > Preferences (or Acrobat > Preferences on Mac) > Page Display.
- You should also note that any initial view settings on an individual file (step 1) will override Acrobat’s general preferences (step 6).
