Download a Past Version of Adobe Reader
Sometimes the most current version of Adobe Reader (Reader 8.1 at the time of this writing) isn’t the right version of Reader for you. You could be using AOL 9, an older Operating System or just prefer a past version to the most current. Regardless of why you may want a past version the fact is you want it. Here’s how to obtain older versions of Adobe Reader directly from Adobe.com.
- Go to Adobe.com and click on ‘Get Adobe Reader’
- Select ‘Choose a different version’ on the left hand of the screen
- Select your operating system version, then select ‘continue’
In order to get Adobe Reader 6.01, 7.09 or 8.1 select XP as your OS version. If you want Acrobat Reader 5.5 then select either 98 or 95.
- Choose the version you wish to download, uncheck ‘Also Download’ and then proceed to ‘Download Adobe Reader’
This method will allow you to choose from Adobe Reader 6.0.1, 7.0.9, 8.1 and Acrobat Reader 5.5

Dear Sir or Madam:
I just sent a comment thanking you for being an available resource. So thanks again! Unfortunately, I have come to another roadblock. I am trying to view a document on the IRS Web Site, and it requires a version of Adobe later than 5.0; specifically, Acrobat Reader version 5.1 or later.
I followed the links on your Web Site that indicated that this version (5.5) could be downloaded as well. I followed the instructions as posted at step three, but unfortunately, when choosing from the operating system drop box, there is no option to select Windows 98 as indicated in the instructions listed on your Web page. I went to the following location as indicated in your listed instructions:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html
I am uncertain if this version is still available, but I would be immensely grateful if you could provide me with some guidance with regard to locating version 5.5. Perhaps this is something that you can provide directly. I have not been able to pin down a reliable source using search engines, and I like to think that I am fairly competent at browsing. Either way, I appreciate your support and look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks.
