Download Adobe Acrobat Reader for Windows 98

Windows 98 is an old operating system but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. It still does everything it did the day you bought it and if you don’t feel the need to update then more power to you. The problem with Windows 98 is that other software has updated so finding compatible software for your system becomes more and more difficult every day. While Adobe provides downloads for Windows 95 and 98 you can’t actually download them with those operating systems.

For some reason Adobe requires the use of a download manager in order to download Adobe Reader. This usually just causes an annoyance but in the case of Windows 95/98 users it causes a downright problem. The download manager will not install to a Windows 95/98 machine and because of this Windows 95/98 users can not get a copy of reader from Adobe.com. Although we showed that old version of Adobe Reader are available from Adobe.com in a different article, being available and being downloadable are not the same thing.

Now that we’ve identified the problem, let’s move on to the solution. The little known, unadvertised, yet public adobe ftp site. This site allows us access to old versions of Acrobat Reader without having to deal with the pesky download manager. Since the FTP site can get confusing I’ve linked to the download below.
