I used Windows Install Cleanup. It seemed to fix my problem. Yeah! I previously purchased Reg Cure; the ads claimed to be able to fix error code 1714. Unfortunately, it did not repair mine. Acrobat Support, thank you so much for your help!

This can be a tricky one. There are probably additional registry entries blocking the installation. The 1714 error is the same issue as 1635. If you're comfortable with the registry, you can take out the additional keys listed in this document:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb400924
-
and this document for the Acrobat 6 and 7 keys:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=330497
-
Editing the registry can be dangerous for you system. If unsure, contact Adobe at 1-800-642-3623 (M-F, 6:00-5:00 Pacific)
-
Best of luck,
Mitch

Have used Windows Install Cleanup, but there are no Adobe entries to clean. Searched registry and cleaned all Adobe, Acrobat and installer entries for version 6 and 7. I cleaned out all adobe directories. The full version of 8 I just bought still won't install. Seems like I just wasted a lot of money!
