Missing PDF Printer or Error Warning 20225

If you find that you are missing your PDF Printer or you received ‘Error Warning 20225’ while installing Acrobat then you need to repair Acrobat and move one particular Windows file.

On Adobe’s website you may have seen this document.

The above document will fix the problem, but it will probably take an hour. Instead of following all of the listed steps, I would recommend doing solution 12 first. This involves moving one important Windows file called framedyn and repairing Acrobat. This solution works most of the time.

Hello. Help. I have this problem and have followed several of the troubleshooting suggestions outlined in the Adobe-authored document you mentioned above. To no avail. I have Acrobat 6.0, running on Windows XP. Suddenly, my PDF Converter is not present, so I’m unable to convert any document to PDF format. Adobe tells me that they no longer offer support for Acrobat 6. If you have any suggestions, I’d welcome them. Thanks!–G

  3. Gretchen,
Unfortunately, this can be a difficult problem. Here is the documentation for Acrobat 6, similar to above:

The first thing to try is solution 12. That works more than anything else. If that doesn’t work, think about what changed on your computer? Did you install any new programs? That could be the cause.

Another trick that usually works is uninstalling Acrobat, making a new user account on Windows, and then reinstalling Acrobat on the new account. You can create a new account under Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.

    Best of luck,
