Remove PDFMaker from Microsoft Office
People sometimes want to remove the Acrobat icons from Microsoft Office. You can remove the PDFMaker buttons from all of Office or just certain programs like Outlook. Here’s how:
- On Windows XP go to Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel
- Click on Acrobat and click Change/Remove
- Click Next and then Modify
- After that click on the plus sign next to Create Adobe PDF
- Next click plus by Acrobat PDFMaker
- Then click the down arrow next to Microsoft Office.
- Finally, click This feature will not be Available, click Next and then Update
- Now the Acrobat icons will be removed from Office. You can reinstall them using the same method.

I have now acquired 17 Adobe PDF buttons on Microsoft Outlook Windows 2000. I have tried all the methods to remove them without success. I tried your method of modifying the installation without success.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook, but the buttons are still there. I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat professional and still the buttons remain, but when I click on a button a grey square appears which has no function.
I have tried limited changes to the registry, but they are still there. They do not appear in Word or Excel. I am using Outlook on a windows XP OS
Please offer some solution to removing the buttons
John,
The official Adobe recommendation is to upgrade Acrobat:

Since you may not want to do that, here is my suggestion:
1. Uninstall Outlook and Acrobat.
2. Reinstall Outlook
3. Do a custom install of Acrobat and choose not to add the PDFmaker buttons.

This is similar to the above method except that the buttons never get installed in the first place so hopefully the Outlook DLL files won’t be corrupted. For more info you can call Adobe at 1-800-642-3623
